When I give Reiki, I start by channeling the energy of the sun, the most powerful life force on our planet. I imagine drawing the warm, vibrant, soothing, honey-colored light into the soles of my feet.
As I inhale, I bring the energy up my legs, swirling over my hips, igniting my belly, wrapping gently around my heart like a hug, massaging my throat, relaxing the muscles in my face. All the way up to the crown of my head, where I pause for a moment and feel a pulsing throughout my entire body.
Then it overflows with the quickness of a rushing river, melting down my hair over my shoulders, trickling down my arms and pooling into the palms of my hands. Which are now on fire as I place them as gently as I can onto the crown of the person’s head I’m healing. Sending them the warm and loving and powerful energy of the sun to begin our session together.
This is an energizing technique you can do at home, too! Sit in meditation or lie on your back in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and start to visualize what I described above. You can place your hands on any area of your body that is in need of extra love - physically or energetically. Cycle through drawing the energy up through your feet to the crown of your head and into your hands 3-10 times with your breath. Inhale to draw in to your crown, exhale to release to your hands.
